Yet another board request -- Jabber?

This isn't really a big deal. It's just something I notice everytime I register for a bulletin board system. Seems they all have spots in the profile for IM using Yahoo, MSN, AOL, maybe even ICQ. I've yet to see Jabber listed. Not that I spend much time in Jabber. It's actually a bit of a pain when you're on dialup. Yeah, there's a plugin that's supposed to notice when you [dis]connect and restore your login with your Jabber server. Didn't work for me.

But if I knew of some other folks using Jabber, I'd probably think more about keeping it active. Anyone? Bueller?

I couldn't find a pre-made mod to add a Jabber address to your profile. Maybe at some point I'll learn how to write an SMF mod, but I don't know how yet.

Well, thanks for looking into it, Bill. Like I said, it's no biggie. I just like to mention open alternatives sometimes.

Is there anyone here who uses Jabber?

I haven't used Jabber before. And as Bill mentions, all of the "features" available on this board have been written by someone else; we just install them. I'll keep my eyes open for one, though.
