Just to let everyone know... MandrakeMove works.  Much suggesting of the reader appropriating said software for personal indulgence.

They werent the original ( or best ) LINUX-run-on-a-CD distro.

Actually ... mandrake did what they always do .... appropriate someone elses GPL work and then fail to properly attribute it ... this is permissable under the GPL, but still considered more than a bit rude. They should at least aknowledge the work the folks at Knoppix and LinuxTag did.

The original is Knoppix.

Good ports of Knoppix include Damn Small Linux, and Morphix.

Knoppix MIB is also interesting, as it encrypts any hard disk swap files it uses, and can be used with a USB pen set up as an encypted /home directory.

Here it is.

This distro has one big problem ... it boots by default in french.

You can tell it to use english at the boot prompt, but it gets a bit problematic because it assumes you have a french keyboard at boot. There are instructions on the boot jpeg, however.

One of my current projects is a Knoppix or Morphix cd that does the same thing, but in english.
