Teachers fired for helping students on standardized tests

I especially like this bit:

In Iowa, science test results for a seventh-grade class have been invalidated and a teacher has resigned after administrators discovered he quizzed students on materials found in the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, the district's superintendent said.

"They were talking about things that were awfully close to the test itself," said Tim Hoffman, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn's superintendent. "Students still had to figure things out, but the public has to depend on us to maintain the integrity of those tests."

So let me get this straight.  They set up standarized tests to make sure kids are learning what they deem is necessary.

Then they link school funding to those tests (i.e. No Idiot Left Behind).

Then they cut funding to 'screwups' like the Kansas City School District for bad test scores.

Then they begin to fire teachers for trying to save their jobs.

And now it's NOT OKAY to prepare for the tests ahead of time?

Only one 'word' applies....FUBAR.
