Made in USA
« on: July 06, 2016, 11:38:55 am »

At the learned suggestion of Bill St.Clair,  he advised  I post in "New Topic", what I hope may be posted as a permanent sticky.

"Hmm... I see 8 pages of "Do-It-Yourself Links and Info" and 12 pages of "Must Have Books/reference material". Neither of these sounds quite like "Made in America"."- Bill

These links  can be then found easily as a quick reference guide to making an informed choice in buying American made products.
I have these kinds of links "safe in a file..somewhere".

It is my hope they may be kept readily available for our mutual use to refer to here first.
Then we can avoid supporting the Chinese economy, instead of our own!

Moderators? Please do what you do to keep this a permanent guide handy for us all.
Thanks.
Please feel free to edit my intro. And if dealing with these companies, any of us find great or poor results, I think we might post those reviews below.

I second Splash's desire and Bill's recommendation, not that my recommendation carries any weigh but I think it is a good idea.

Seemed to me to fit better in Activism. Anyway, there you go. :)

The whole point of the thread was to place it in an easy to find/ locate point to reference when making purchases.
 A reminder.
This thread has nothing to do with Activism. It's a shopping guide.

Well Splash, It's a shopping guide for "activists" who want to keep America strong and who want to support American business.

Since when did shopping make you an "Activist"?

Looks like it won't be real easy to find now....but that was the point, wasn't it?

Shopping only for American made goods does IMHO make you an activist. No Splash, I do not believe that was the point at all. Why would that be the point?

Where do you feel it would be the easiest to access?

It was a suggestion Tahn, no one said only.
Shopping isn't activism.
Buying American, is an alternative to buying Chinese.
I'll pass on where I'd like to put the thread!

Splash, I was once frustrated about the origins of some products (have since changed my perspective). It might of interest to you to read this thread:

As usual, I have to agree with Silver's post in the above thread.

That thread is 5 years old................there are more millions out of work here since then.

I DO care that Americans have become accustomed to the poisoned food, junky products, shoddy labor, while my countrymen are out of work.
Paying less for being flooded with crap products, will make us pay unemployment, Medicaid, foodstamps, housing...which do you think will cost more?
But thanks for the response and link!

Shopping is most assuredly a form of activism. It can put companies out of business. And it's peaceful. Want more of something? Buy it, and encourage your friends to buy it. Want less? Buycott. And be sure to let the seller know why.

That thread is 5 years old................

Wisdom, whether found in published works or a simple post, for those willing to learn is timeless.

What the responses from that thread showed me was that my frustration, though understandable, was misdirected. Private enterprises have every right to hire who they want to meet their needs. Which brings home Tahn's and Bill's point: buying is a form of activism. If someone doesn't like how a company runs things they are free to go elsewhere for their desires.

" If someone doesn't like how a company runs things they are free to go elsewhere for their desires. "

Round and round we go...........that's the entire point.
The "elsewhere's" are few and far between!
The choices, without digging, are not readily available thanks to the DC pigs and oslima's intentional trade deficit.

Hence the thread. If you choose to shop for American made products, I thought a readily available list would be helpful to us all.

It's not all that heavy and deep , just a "handy" simple reference guide for members.
