Late last month, Facebook, Google , Twitter and other Internet media execs held a secret meeting in San Francisco to discuss ways to prevent meddling in 2018 elections. Of course their idea of meddling is not doing as your superiors tell you to do. Their arrogance and attempted manipulation of content will be their downfall just as sure as the print and broadcast media have discovered, are discovering.

Today I published an essay on this with links to alternatives. You might want to consider moving from the bad guys to the good guys, if you are there at all.... which I think we should be. Among those I recommend are Minds, Gab, ProtonMail, DuckDuckGo, Vivaldi. There may be a number of excellent alternatives to the lamestream. Tell us about them.

I have changed my 'newspaper' reading habits. THE SHOW that is going on in the District of Criminals political theater and its lamestream media propaganda arm seems likely to be the thrashing death throes of each. FERSHUR it will be ugly ... and dangerous to all, including bystanders both near and far removed.

The 90%-95% media monopolies have suicided themselves via total absence of truth. That looked like so much fun that Facebook, YouTube and Twitter jumped on that wagon by removing alternate views. The remaining monoculture is both boring in its consistency and incorrect in its facts. That, too, will not survive long.

Fortunately there are clever, skilled people on the other side.  Browsing with Vivaldi, websearching with DuckDuckGo, social media/news with Gab.com and Minds.com are delivering reasonably factual sources of information and conversation.

I also recommend keeping an eye on Qanon.pub, 8ch.net, and https://voat.co/v/QRV

Happily, there are good reasons for a little optimism. The Storm may be powerfully ugly, but there are some serious enemies of our enemies working the problem today.

Thanks for those news sources.  I haven't perused news websites for months now due to complete lack of anything of substance.  Weather channel and handful of hunting sites are what I'm limited to now...  I will check out a couple of those you mentioned.

For us, https://gab.com is a good uncensored source for breaking news. It takes a while to build a network, but I think the effort is worthwhile.  BitterrootBugler has some interesting feeds.

I'm "billstclair" on Gab. I like Gab, because I'm their customer, not a product being sold to advertisers. Gab has no ads, and is supported entirely by Pro user fees, donations, and investments. You may use it for free, but Pro users get some extra features.

What I don't like about Gab is that there are a lot of bigots there, since they've been run out of Facebook and Twitter. On Gab, you're responsible for silencing voices you don't like. The mute feature works very well, and you occasionally have to use it.

Gab recently published an API. I'm working on an Elm client and intend to build a TweetDeck-like web app.
