Oh me... sometimes you just wonder. I worked in a small, independent grocery store long ago, when my babies were small. We had an elderly lady customer who always wanted the smallest size of everything. She insisted that they were "cheaper." Could not convince her otherwise.
Eventually, we got "unit price" information when we went to shelf tags instead of individually marking the product. I made a special effort to create a chart, showing in large type exactly the cost "PER" unit of several items she bought regularly... and the aggregate cost of the small sizes to match the amount in the larger bottle, can, whatever.
She studied that for a while, then looked at me angrily and said, "Why, you've been cheating me all this time!!"
ARGGGGGH

Yup people can be stupid. Plus she probably didn't want to admit she had been wrong to ignore you, and since it was "easier" to blame you and the store, that's what she did.

The news around here had been saying we were going to get snow this weekend for a few days.  I'd heard varying start times ranging from 11 PM on Saturday to 7 PM on Sunday and varying accumulation amounts, mostly ranging from 2-4 inches.  I usually visit a friend in town every Saturday to hang out and socialize (and that's pretty much the extent of my social life).  Before leaving the house, I tossed some large chunks of oak from a mostly dead tree we felled this past spring into the bed of my pickup to help with traction.  On the way there, I stopped and filled up my gas tank, which I'd have done whether it was going to snow or not since I was down to about a half tank of gas.  That was pretty much the extent of my preps for the snow since we have food and firewood.

When I left to come home (about 1 AM), it was misting pretty heavily.  I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home to get some grape juice, because I wanted grape juice.  Grabbed some chips to snack on, window shopped some ammo, and left.  They were busier than normal for 1:30 AM (I'm in Wal-Mart between midnight and 2 AM once or twice a week), but they still only had one register and the self checkout lanes open.  By the time I got out of the store (10 minutes or so), the mist was starting to freeze on the ground and my entire truck was covered with a layer of ice.  Fortunately, the engine was still pretty warm, so the defroster made short work of what was on the front window, but my mirrors and the rest of my windows were covered.  I played slip 'n' slide getting out of the parking lot (mostly intentionally), which was a lot of fun and then drove 65-70 mph most of the way home (mostly straight highway and it was still getting enough traffic to keep from freezing).  Got home, walked dogs as the mist changed to a sleet/snow mix.

Right now my truck is again covered in a layer of ice, which is under a layer of snow.  We've got less than an inch of snow on the ground, and the sun is trying to peek out, even though there's still some snow coming down.

Chilly here - only hit 61 F today.  Edit:  According to local news it's 65 F now.  Still cold - I might have to throw on a 'coat' or 'gloves' - no idea what these things are ...

Well well, here in the land of Ovommit.
It has been snowing all weekend, got about a foot on the ground.
High was about 8  today, with a low tonight of about -17.
A high of -8 Monday, but no snow.

Those are the things that are needed when you live in a location that provides ALL of the water and food that you could ever want/need. You know. The places where grass grows, and tall trees, and crops. The places where animals can graze.

It's 12 degrees here right now, supposed to get down to about 5 tonight.  Local news said we were only supposed to get up to 15 tomorrow, weather.com is guessing 23 for tomorrow, and accuweather.com is guessing 21.  I'm glad I work indoors.

Driving to work this morning I was greeted with a wonderful radio announcement: 15 below with wind chills of 50 below.  All schools in the area are closed except homeschool.  Heh heh, the only thing our children don't like about homeschool.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm finding it reeeeally hard to feel sorry for you mi6a2lm.

Didn't make it to 20 below after all. It was -17 when I got up at 4AM, now -16. I don't think I'll plan on going anywhere today. :)

Well it was -15 this morning, in the land of Ovommit.
The temp made it to -18 before going up again, but it is still -14 here.

We may get to 0 Tuesday.

But I heard it was -8 in Dallas today.

As I'm fond of saying: it's all relative.

With the wind chill, the Big Bad City I live near reached -5 degrees Monday morning. Without the wind chill my town was in the single digits the last few mornings. I've lived in the south a very long time, and in this part of TN for almost 8 years: this is darn tootin' cold!! Not panic cold, mind you, but definitely something to talk about!

Tennessee? Pfft,  :shakehead:  amateurs.

Try living east of the Great Lakes like I did for a while. Or the Dakotas or Northern Michigan from what I heard.

I'm here now! Wind chill was -20 to -30 or so for the last few days. Lake effect snow is an almost daily occurrence. Shovel, shovel, shovel!

-11F out here where I now live seems a lot warmer than +15F where I used to live, especially when the wind is not howling. And few things suck more than cold rain, like when it's 33F and raining. I don't miss that.

I do miss real Italian food, however. Does every pizzeria out here buy their crust from Pizza Hut? And what's with the cheddar cheese on pizza?

Southern Michigan is where I'm at. Lots of "lake effect snow" from Lake Michigan the past couple days. :P Apparently some areas of the county had wind chill's of -35 degrees. Though it should be warming up by this weekend. It'll actually get as high as 40 degrees this weekend. Or at least that's what the weatherman says :P I was at church tonight and the Pastor said when he was on the pulpit "I bet you that if it does end up being around 40 degrees this weekend, someone will show up to church here in their shorts!" The funny thing is that he was only half-joking...there probably WILL be someone doing just that. :P

Still the worst seems to be over, for my area at least, which is nice.
