Well here in the land of Ovommit (Chicago).
we just got above 25 today.
we have had snow off and on for the last two weeks here.
got about 18 inches on the lawn still. it is funny watching the dog run around in it, and he is a German Shepherd.
The problem we got here is not the snow or ice. it is the Mexicans. they just will not learn how to drive in the stuff.
Who ever told them that it is OK to drive 10 to 20 mph, after the roads are plowed?
well I am looking forward to April here. no more snow.

Haven't had any real snow here in over a month. It did get to 10 or 15 degrees, though, today. Most of the last month the highs have been around zero or colder.

Tennessee? Pfft,  :shakehead:  amateurs.

Try living east of the Great Lakes like I did for a while. Or the Dakotas or Northern Michigan from what I heard.

S.

This is late (several months in fact) but that's where I live. The town I live in is right on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. So I know how cold it can get. :P

EDIT*** Going over further posts on this thread, it seems I already replied to that statement by S. Jester....whoops. :P

EDIT the Second***** Forgot to mention, while there is still some snow in some areas around where I live, most of it's gone. It keeps like this it may even be all gone by my birthday on the 7th!!! :) Of course it'll probably still be rather chilly. Which will most likely mean planting the various gardens will get delayed by a week or two...or three.

Don't put the snow shovels away just yet. Another major storm is due to hit tonight here, and will then head east. At least the snow is melting between storms now. That's progress...  But really, we pretty much expect one last big snowstorm the first part of April here.

April 1 will be the eighth anniversary of my move into this house. I always laugh when I remember that the friends who helped me move discusses putting it off another week, but were able to manage the first after all. This was a very good thing. The next weekend, Lead, South Dakota where I'd been staying, had five FEET of new snow. They didn't finish digging out for another two weeks.

We're going to have a good chance of rain here all week. It may snow some too, of course, but it's much too warm for any to stick. Had a good rain last night, and the forecast is 100% for today and tomorrow, so we might just get some significant moisture out of it. Hope, hope.

Can't remember the last time we had rain here in May.
Weather report was for drizzles, but we got a good two hour of steady downpour.  Haven't heard if it changes much with the drought.

'bout time!  Now I can begin to emerge from hibernation and forage in my natural habitat - the pool.

http://www.azfamily.com/news/Saturday-marks-first-100-degree-day-of-2014-in-Phoenix-257816611.html
---
At 2:19 p.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service reported Phoenix Sky Harbor reached 100 degrees. By 2:23 p.m. the temperature rose to 102. This was the official high for May 3 and the first 100-degree day of the year in Phoenix.

... but:

---
Many Valley communities may see one more 100-degree day for Sunday before a storm system from the Pacific Northwest ushers in cooler air and breezy winds across the entire state. The high country may see isolated thunderstorms by midweek.

I don't know about Newcastle, but Lander has a high percentage chance of snow this coming Wednesday.

One of many reasons I live in Newcastle and not Lander. :) We may get another sprinkle or two of snow, but spring is definitely here now.

Enjoy! I like it too, but six months of it has been a bit much. 71 degrees outside yesterday and I could open some windows! Heaven.

If you don't want six months of cold and snow, I think you're in the wrong state, ML.  :P

Only three or four months with snow, usually. And I don't mind the normal cold, but this has been an exceptional year. The real cold started early and lasted longer. There's cold and then there's COLD. Too much of a good thing gets old.  All that "global warming," you understand. :)

No, I'm in the right place. Just glad to see the summer coming.
