Bang on the Jail Window and Die
« on: February 03, 2005, 03:52:04 pm »

"Jail officers used a Taser gun four times to subdue Jeffrey Turner, 41, after he banged repeatedly on a security window of a first floor cell Monday night, Lucas County jail administrator Rick Keller said.

He had been shocked five times while being arrested on charges of loitering, resisting arrest and obstructing official business, police said."

That's right, Nine times!  The Five for loitering was bad enough.  The extra Four was for good measure, for killing him.

Yeah, I read about that.  Now loitering is a capital crime. All the world's a jail, and we are but prisoners.

The jail has used Tasers about a dozen times since March and no one has required hospital treatment before, Keller said.

He got the treatment alright.  He's dead you f*cking idiot.

Am we supposed to assume, since nobody required treatment before (or died), then that justifies their actions now that this guy has now been zapped to death?

The cops just love these things too.  For anything.  You put your hands up and don't lock em how they want you too, you risk being tased, it's nuts.

<rant> Gotta love these fsck'n news media sites and the way they wanna drop cookies on you with absurd expiration dates as soon as you visit the site,  too -- this one had an expiration date ending in "/25"!  WTF?  *Denied*
</rant>

One thing that jumped out at me that I didn't see any mention of in the thread was where this happened -- Toledo, OH.  I guess Hunter ain't the only one having had trouble in that state...

So if I wanna travel west of here (PA),  I probably want a more southerly route?  Even with a somewhat northerly ultimate destination?  I'm OK with WV,  but don't know anything about Kentucky,  any of you folks care to comment?

Or maybe we need a "travel tips" thread,  places that are cool and other places to avoid?

Feel free to copy any of this over to one,  if somebody should start one.

Ohio sucks bro!  Avoid the turnpike at all costs or you'll have drug dogs on you for 7 miles an hour over.  I've already filed paperwork with them but a lot of good that did, though I know some troopers names if you want to know.

Here's from my old yahoo group:

"Message: 6
   Date: Thu, 12 Aug 2004 03:52:17 -0000
   From: nanopronanopro
Subject: Turnpike Turns into Snooperville and Plates Entered Into
Database

http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?
AID=/20040811/NEWS03/408110343/-1/NEWS
"And it's checking out everyone else too.

Starting this week, the Ohio Highway Patrol has been looking for bad
guys by automatically checking the license plate of every vehicle
chugging down the Ohio Turnpike.

Electronic devices have been placed at both ends of the turnpike -
and in two cruisers driving along the toll road - to zap license
plate numbers and feed them into a huge national crime database."

also: "license plate scanners have been mounted at a Westgate toll
booth on the Indiana line (Gate 2) and at an Eastgate toll booth on
the Pennsylvania line (Gate 239). Mobile scanners are also mounted on
two Ohio State Highway Patrol cruisers — one at Westgate and one at
Eastgate."  This is just the first of many places they will be
installed with our money, and I'll bet that in 5 years, no positive
results that can be verified will result and I will gaurantee that
more than a few innocent people will find themselves in a hassle or
worse as the German Sheopards sniff around the gas tanks.

The Ohio Turnpike is notorious for "nabbing" innocent people and
fishing for drugs and generating revenues.  My advice is to avoid it
at all costs, thus denying their toll money.  This, by the way is
paid for with 61,000 dollars in federal money, so no matter what
state you live in, you're paying for it.
