Fans of STAR WARS
« on: August 28, 2011, 03:16:21 pm »

Ever since the first STAR WARS movie came out, I've been hooked. I've specially become enamored of all the fan-created movies, stories and spoofs that have been made. And I also love the mini-movies for the video games. Thought I would share some stuff I've collected. Sorry if you have dial-up. I will add more and encourage other fans to share anything STAR WARS - pretty please!

DPR - Agh! I think the spoofs are just as good as the *real* stuff - if not better.

This video is about 9 minutes long so watch if you're bored and a need a laugh:

Interesting to read this line from SW with the understanding of what ZAP is:

“A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.”

HARRISON FORD TO PLAY HAN SOLO AGAIN IN NEW 'STAR WARS' FILM

HARRISON FORD TO PLAY HAN SOLO AGAIN IN NEW 'STAR WARS' FILM

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/2013/02/15/Harrison-Ford-to-play-Han-Solo-again

Ford, 70, played the handsome, wisecracking hero in "Star Wars: A New Hope," "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." Hollywood's Walt Disney Co. recently confirmed it is working on several standalone "Star Wars" movies, as well as three sequels to the established six-movie saga. However, no plot lines or release dates for the spinoff flicks have been officially announced. </snip>

Love this comment:

"I would still like to see a SW movie on Hans and Chewbecca the smugglers... I dunno about you, but I would like to find out how they made the Kessel run in under 12 parsects."

I should have figured that Disney would buy out Star Wars sooner or later.  If anyone has been to Disneyland, you know about the Star Tours ride.  Awesome experience.

As for the movies that Disney will put out, that remains to be seen

There is a lot of buzz about it, I will see the first film they put out just in case they get it right.  Do not expect a "Gritty version" however Disney don't swing like that......

Most of the time news is about the same old violations of the first principles of consent and golden rule with a dash of force thrown in........ with just enough duct tape to be believable.

Ha! Link includes a one minute, forty-five second video of the class.

http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2013/02/21/Martial-Arts-Instructor-Offers-Lightsaber-Class

Lightsaber class offered in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) A group of San Francisco Star Wars fans who want to travel to a galaxy not that far away have created a combat choreography class for Jedis-in-training with their weapon of choice: the lightsaber. At a recent class, Alain Bloch, the self-proclaimed Jedi Master at Golden Gate Knights, demonstrated a slicing technique. He has a background in martial arts and stage combat. "Always be mindful of the presence!" he said, donning Luke Skywalker outfit and a green lightsaber. With Star Wars movie music coursing through the dance studio, his disciples clutch their neon-glowing lightsabers. These self-proclaimed "Star Wars geeks" slice and parry as they follow Bloch's lead, and get a little exercise, too. People in a recent class in the city's South of Market district, including a couple on a date, said they embraced their quirkiness and had even converted some of the skeptical into the "Jedi order." </snip>

There's one problem as I can see. Princess Leia, as well as her mom, is now a Disney Princess.

My wife and I are fans of Doctor Who as well as Star Trek and Star Wars.

Some months ago, I saw a graphic novel that juxtaposed Star Trek: The Next Generation with Doctor Who (apparently, the Borg and the Cybermen had combined forces).

When we started watching Star Trek: Voyager, I suddenly got a little video in my head, a meeting in Voyager's sickbay between the Doctor and the Emergency Medical Hologram (who, btw, is also called Doctor)......

Captain Janeway(CJ):  Computer, activate the Emergency Medical Hologram.

Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH):  Please state the nature of the medical emergency.

Doctor Who (DW)(quizzically):  Who are you?

EMH:  I'm the Doctor.  Who are you?

DW:  *I'm* the Doctor.

EMH:  Really?  Doctor who?

DW:  I was about to ask that question myself.  Of course, I've heard that it's the question that can never be answered.

EMH (annoyed):  It seems par for the course around here.  I requested a name almost seven years ago, and I've not even been given a short list, much less a long one.

CJ:  Doctor...

EMH *and* DW:  Yes?

Well, we planned to hold off showing episode IV until the kiddos were six'ish, give or take. But.... A couple of weekends ago we showed it to them. They showed no signs of fear and didn't have any subsequent bad dreams. In fact, the next day DD kept telling me how "awesome it was." We didn't tell them that Luke and Leia are brother/sister as they will find out through the later movies - which we will hold off on (for now).
