Imagine Dragons - Radioactive

Video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktvTqknDobU

Lyrics and interpretations- http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107859427542/#QxHUKRBWh7bYmkBq.99

I'm waking up to ash and dust,
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust,
I'm breathing in, the chemicals.
I'm breaking in, shaping up, checking out on the prison bus.
This is it, the apocalypse, whoa.

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones.
Enough to make my systems blow.
Welcome to the new age, to the new age.
Welcome to the new age, to the new age.
Whoa, whoa, radioactive, radioactive.
Whoa, whoa, radioactive, radioactive.

I raise my flags, don my clothes,
It's a revolution I suppose.
We'll paint it red, to fit right in, whoa.

All systems go, sun hasn't died.
Deep in my bones, straight from inside.

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones.
Enough to make my systems blow.
Welcome to the new age, to the new age.
Welcome to the new age, to the new age.
Whoa, whoa, radioactive, radioactive.
Whoa, whoa, radioactive, radioactive.

One of my favorite interpretations-------

Has anyone else seen the music video for this song? I think that it's about rebelling from oppressive government. The video depicts a corrupt toy-fighting arena, similar to dog fighting. It's quite Hunger Games-esque- rebelling from a totalitarian government that enjoys watching innocent citizens fight to the death. The video shows a small, tattered teddy bear fighting the powerful, undefeated purple monster. At first, the teddy bear appears to be getting destroyed, but then he randomly gets powers that enable him to defeat his opponent. He then throws the owner of the arena down the dump where they discard all of the toys. In my opinion, it's obviously symbolizing revolution. A main aspect of it is to never underestimate one's power- even though it may seem like one person can't make a change, the individual's power is greatly magnified with social movements and revolutions. We wouldn't have women's or African American voting rights to day if it weren't for the social activism that occurred to actually get those rights. So this video is a metaphor for a rebellion against oppressive and corrupt government. Does it represent the American government today? I guess we'll have to find out.

Turned my kid onto Frampton Comes Alive. Man that album brings back memories... My first girlfriend, first kiss, the way her freshly blow-dried hair smelled like Clairol Herbal Essence.

Please don't get pissed at me for posting this. I'm posting this song because I think that a few people here would get a kick out of it. *Caution- May be extremely offensive to some people. If you are easily offended do not, I repeat, DO NOT click the link.*

Everyone. This song is not against christians. It's about how people use the name of God for their own agenda!

So when he sings, "they know what God thinks" he means that people keep claiming that they know what God really thinks, and then they use it against whoever they dislike.
"first to throw the stone, and use his name for your own protection"

Capiche?

I hope that this will reduce the misunderstanding of the song :)

And remember, you don't have to take religion so seriously all the time, relax and enjoy a good song from a wonderful artist! Peace begins with a smile my brothers and sisters!

That was cool! I didn't know you could link to a specific point in a video?

If I were an English driver on that road I would be getting pretty pissed at all the tourists stopping traffic for a picture. (I have been keeping it on the background on my computer while I am working, and at least once every 5 minutes tourists are posing on the zebra crossing to take a picture.)

I like the Chili Peppers' version.

The Mavericks.
New CD (called: In Time) came out earlier this year ( they got back together after 10 years) and is the 1st thing I've heard from them I really liked since 15 years ago.  The song "Come Unto Me."  Lead singer, Raul Malo, is better live than on recording I think.
