Nobody else has made a comment. Anyone else have a problem with just deleting the whole thing?
Well, I'm late to the party again, and see that's a moot question anyhow. But will I let that stop me?

If a thread contains useful info, even if it's obscure to some or most of us, it's worth keeping. For those open to listening, this is useful, even if you're not knowledgable on the technologies of printing, as a reference for the scope of embarking on this sort of project.
What I know about printing processes is approximately the following:
* When someone talks about linotype, I think of cast bullets, but I know it was a printing technology.
* I know about CMYK seperation, because it's what always comes up when people talk about the shortcomings of The GIMP.
* I don't like the smell of mimeograph fluid.
* I understand half-toning, in at least a basic way.
But I still liked reading about what it'd take to set up a production litho shop.
As far as it not being relevant post-SHTF, I dunno. Depends on how things all fall out. Might be that after some period of just surviving, restarting industrial processes would involve having working printing presses around, and people who know how to run them. Yeah, that ain't the same as putting out the condensed version of the collected tips and techniques people have shared here -- just a thought.
Also, FWIW, threads like this often send me off on short research projects, and I learn something. Not that I suddenly feel like I could run a print shop, but I still enjoyed reading a bit about
offset lithography.
