Short report
 From: Gary Marbut-MSSA <>
Dear MSSA Friends,

GRPC.  I spent last weekend at the 24th annual Gun Rights Policy
Conference in St. Louis.  Very interesting.

I chaired a panel about the Montana Firearms Freedom Act and the
Firearms Freedom Act movement.

About 700 attended.  While I was there CNN interviewed me again about
the MFFA.  I have no idea if or when that will air.  If you learn of
it, please let me know.

Oh, BTW, I was presented with an award for Grass Roots Activist of
the Year (well, actually I was out in the hallway doing the CNN
interview when the award was announced, but they saved the plaque for me).

Hardin.  I've been following the reports about Hardin.  I should have
some first-hand reports from there by Thursday and will pass along
what I learn.  Meanwhile, don't forget what the Montana Constitution
says about importation of armed men:

Article II, Section 33. "Importation of armed persons. No armed
person or persons or armed body of men shall be brought into this
state for the preservation of the peace, or the suppression of
domestic violence, except upon the application of the legislature, or
of the governor when the legislature cannot be convened."

For further discussion of this constitutional reservation of
authority in Montana, see Professor Natelson's essay at:

MFFA.  We are still on track to file our federal lawsuit to validate
the Montana Firearms Freedom Act on October 1st.  I will send you a
copy of our news release when we file.
