Thanks Vonu, I just order the free CD and then download the instructions. Never new there was a book. But I am a trial and error and error and error type person, then ask.

In 97 when we got our first computer, we got the dummy books. My questions were never in them.

The book isn't free, but it probably contains information which would help someone unversed in Linux, as I am generally in PCs.
I feel the same way about the Vista for Dummies book I bought. It doesn't even contain the correct information so I can send email from outside my Gmail page.

I second Ubuntu and open office. If you have some thing that is "locked" into a MS operating system you can down load virtualbox
http://www.virtualbox.org/ and run windows inside of linux. Or use xen (another virtualization layer)with ubuntu. But you need newer hardware the is VI enabled to use xen.
