Unbroken (for Debra)
« on: April 27, 2008, 07:02:13 pm »

Tragedy comes
into all lives
it breaks the weaker
derails their souls.
I am not worried,
not for a moment.
I know for certain
You will not break.

Tragedy goes,
it must never linger,
we outlaws must learn
to love it a little.
These tragic fires,
temper and shape us,
what fine new steel
might result from this pain?

Count on your sister
and we scattered brothers
hands through the ether
a promise to hold.
Shoulders to cry on,
solemn kept promises,
extended forever
our sister adored.

I will not worry,
my faith will not falter.
From this you'll learn
and harden and grow.
I know you'll prosper,
and remain forever
an Outlaw
unbroken.

Well done, George.

Debra, I still wish you peace, and I hope you know how many are available to help if desired, you have only to say the word.

Claire --

I found the word.

-G.

You found many words, George. And as usually, exactly right ones. I think your poem -- your song -- is exactly right about Debra.

But as to THE word, I'm glad you found it because I was beginning to feel very guilty for not coming up with it and PMing you about it.

To everybody, I don't think Debra has been reading the board lately. If not, I'll pass along your good wishes and a link to George's poem. Debra is exactly as G. understands her to be -- in deep mourning, but (as everybody around her observes) doing exactly what she needs to do to go on from here in the best possible way. She and her husband were very much in love, and he absolutely adored her for the terrific person she is.
