Jailbird
« on: October 30, 2006, 12:15:37 am »

You may have been wondering what my avatar was, precisely.  I did this painting after an inspiring stay at a guest house reknowned throughout the county.  I'd been trying to get a proper jailbird look, with minimal success until a Gary Baseman book borrowed from the library provided some inspiration.

I like it... somehow it seems like the position we're all in these days. That liquid stuff going down the drain should be blood, however.

Cute. Had that feeling if not the experience. And what's the tattoo(?) on his wing?

Oh, that's good, badmuggafugga. And with all due respect to Pagan, one of the first things that caught my eye (and my imagination) was that the goo going down the drain is ... ewww, greenish. Adds an air of mystery.

Fine piece of work. Someday maybe you'll tell us more about your "inspirational" stay in that guest house?

Um ... also ... I'm not gonna tell the mods. But remember: no large graphics posted here. You should post at some other site (plenty of free ones around) then link from here. A thumbnail is okay.

Awwwww . . . .

Thanks for the encouragement, y'all.  I thought this one had gone down to the depths with nary a bubble.

Now I just need to find a place to stick my pictures . . . .

Whaddaya want, George?  I might have an off-the-shelf solution . . . .

As an aside, one of the strippers that was over the other night drew what looked for all the world like a Xangurl self-portrait.

What I'd like are illustrations of any image from any story, essay, poem or song of mine. 'Illustration' is here used as a fast and loose term. So long as there is at least a metaphorical connection, take all the artistic license you like. Any media. :)
