"Stealth" Candidates
« on: September 25, 2006, 12:14:27 pm »

Here in the chosen "Free State" of New Hampshire, we've been scoring legislative victories already.
Next year, a dozen of us Free-Staters are running for public office in "stealth mode" -- under the Republican and Democrat tickets.

The upshot is, in a few months' time, I fully expect at least half-a-dozen full-bore libertarians will actually be in our State's house of Representatives.
Your thoughts?

I would find it impressive if you can pull it off.  There needs to be an alternative to the usual dweebs.

What is the opposite of a "stealth candidate"?  Cuz that would be me.  Unless you count that no one has heard of me.  That is kinda stealthy.

Update: one of our candidates was ELECTED!!
That's right, a Free Stater has been elected to the House of Representatives in New Hampshire.
http://freestateblogs.net/election2006

Check the victory speech:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GpZ5sbZOSs

Libertarians have been bitching for 30+ years about what in the "system" needs to be changed, and celebrating "victory" when they win an uncontested seat in a municipal election. We just elected a man to state office. More will be elected in 2 years' time. And more Free-Staters are arriving every week.

Do you all know who Ron Paul is?

Ron Paul:
http://www.house.gov/paul/

Yea, the tag says Republican, but his words and actions scream Libertarian.  I think Paul was the first stealth canidate, and I fully support the idea until enough of a majority is obtained that the "fake wigs" can come off.

Impressive, Makes me want to pack up and go (but why does liberty always have to be in  a cold place).

One state is a good start, I hope more mat follow.   the Kalifornicans truck here with non-smoking regulations, the real nevadans were out voted and some legislation about banning smoking in certain places and certain times of day was passed "for the kids".  A camel got its nose under the tent, I am starting to look for the camels.

I really figure there is truth in that statement.  People who want a soft life fear snow and temperatures below freezing.  You have to "find it invigorating" or put some other positive, Pollyeanna spin on it if you wanna get away from them.  If the cold is what it takes to keep statism from expanding, give me cold.

Of course it isn't working perfectly even in Minnesota or Maine, but it is obviously better than Kalifornia or Florida.

It can work in a hot dry place as well, until you improve it too much

Speaking of which, why has the ruling elite of Mexico allowed Arizona and SoCal to suck every last drop out of the Rio Grande (en englais: BIG RIVER) before it crosses the border.  If I were Mexican, I'd be shooting-mad that THE BIG RIVER was a gravel pathway to nowhere... especially if I knew there were fat-cat lawns being watered up north with the stolen water.  I'm not quite tempted to put on a Mexican militia uniform and storm Tucson yet, but somebody ought to.
