Title: (MODIFIED) The rules and rites of Show & Tell -- READ BEFORE POSTING, PLEASE
Post by: Claire on August 08, 2006, 03:08:44 pm
This is the place to share special joys and accomplishments.

Have you taken a great photograph? Done some artwork? Got a new family member (human or otherwise)? Did you build your own bicycle or raise a prize-winning tomato plant? Been promoted? Won an award? Built a new house with your bare hands? Have you stood up to a tyrant? Done something you didn't think you could do? Post about it here!

You can also post here if you've seen or done something that powerfully moved you, made you laugh, or filled you with wonder. Whatever good thing you want to share.

THE RULES (altered by Moderator):

DO NOT use the forum's "insert image" tag to post photos, drawings, or other graphics. This causes the pictures to appear on TCF, gobbles up bandwidth, and gives headaches to users who are on dial-up.

DO use the "insert hyperlink" tag OR simply paste the URL of an image into your post. This enables people to go to your site (or to photobucket or one of the other public photo album sites) to see your picture.

THE ONLY EXCEPTION: You MAY use the "insert image" tag to show thumbnails, as long as the images display as no more than one inch square.

Hope you enjoy ...

(Oh, and I'll be the first one to Show & Tell: I just created a TCF forum for the first time.  )

As most of you know, I was laid off in November when the factory I worked at closed and moved to China.
But today, in my email, I received the following job offer. It almost sounds TOO GOOD to be true !  ^_^
The email message IS real.  But unfortunately, my bank account is EMPTY

Shoot that's nothing P J.

I have a personal agent in Nigeria who is holding a huge trunk just slam full of Money that was left to me by an Uncle I don't even have.
We're only waiting for the Nigerian Department of Antiquities to authorize its shipment to my private compound in Lower BhumPhook.

I'll be throwing a huge party when it arrives ....

What a coincidence, I have a the same offer ^_^! I'm with gooch on this one, it's a scam. They wire money to your bank account (They evidently have no policy that prevents that...) and require you to immediately disburse the 90% as promised. The wire transfer "bounces" (yes, they can do that just like a check) and the money suddenly disappears from your account, but the money you sent out doesn't come back! The goal is to drain YOUR bank account, not transfer their money.

Echo Cliffs - Looking west/northwest toward the Grand Canyon

Drove to Page for my son's HS basketball game. He and I were driving back to Phoenix. This scenic overlook is about 20 minutes south of Page. Pulled over, whipped out the digital and snapped this.

Thanks PJ.

There is about  a 30 mile stretch south of that location that looks as if you are driving on the surface of Mars. Barren, red rock and dirt, nary even a shrub. Navajo Indian Res.

The Company has been running this health-kick program to get the office staff a little exercise. What the heck, I strapped on a pedometer and joined in. Thing is, I made zero change in lifestyle and darn-near all the walking I do is inside my Goodwill store from the far corner of the production area to the end of the retail floor and back many, many times... at a rapid 31" stride.

For a "Gold Star" (I kid you not) one is supposed to accomplish a total of 1,000,000 steps in 120 days. Due to hits in staffing, the last few days of my million steps were above average. But I have presented them with an interesting problem... what do do for the guy who hit the goal in 82 days?

day                           steps        miles   tot step    miles          av step     miles

The spike in miles was followed by TODAY, my first day off this month.  I sat.

But I did get a big old monkey off my back while sitting.  My blog software is now the current version and I added a photo gallery so my picture links to my own database.  Really major accomplishments for as much as I know about the software.  Not to mention the minor one of finally posting a blog entry again after a long sabbatical.
