Philosophy of Freedom (light)
- Hans-Hermann Hoppe > Murray N. Rothbard > Ludwig von Mises > Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk (Wikipedia) > Carl Menger; (see LvMI)
- Henry Hazlitt, Leonard E. Read, Frank Chodorov, John T. Flynn, Garet Garrett, the "old right", 19th Century Liberalals, &c. (and see FEE or LvMI)
- Claire Wolfe (see The Musings of), L. Neil Smith (see his 'zine Libertarian Enterprise), &c.
One very practical reason for freedom is Mises' recognition that the prices of goods in society, in society's marketplace, are only arrived at through the free back-and-forth, the haggling, between the buyers and the sellers. And without those freely arrived at prices, nobody can estimate how to do anything more cheaply, more efficiently. Without those prices, we don't know whether to build a bridge or a train or anything else with steel or titanium or again, anything else. That is, from the aspect of work efficiency. One can use the strength or weight or availability to decide, but that won't guarantee cost-efficiency, or biggest bang for the buck.
