Ignore Button

The Ignore Button allows you to remove from your view comments made by other users which offend your personal sensibilities without enforcing your personal sensibilities on others.

Function
There is a button which, while not quite as powerful as the button which wreaked havoc on the city of Fresno, has a certain magic in and of itself, and it is available to any registered member of TCF. It is known as the Ignore Button. This button has the power to make annoying or offensive posts disappear from your view if you are logged in to TCF. It gives you the power to pseudo-moderate posts of other users as far as your view only without disturbing anyone else's view who wants to see those users' posts.
Location
The Ignore Button is located on the left side of each post at the bottom of the information on the left side of each and every post.
Usage
Usage of the Ignore Button is as follows:
1. Locate the button on an offending post.
2. Click the button.
This will cause all of the comments of that user to disappear from your view when you are reading a thread directly and replace them in your view of the post with a statement that "This user is currently ignored." This makes it very easy to just scroll on past posts by users who you find generally annoying, offensive, or do not wish to read for other reasons without disturbing other people's view of them who do wish to read those posts.
Limitations
Posts by Ignored users will still appear in the 10 Most Recent Posts on the Forum view. Use of the button also does not allow you to automatically filter out only the posts by a particular user which you find offensive while showing other posts by that user. As in real life discussions, that is a manual function which you must perform for yourself if you do not wish to eliminate the offending poster's comments entirely from your view. The Ignore function also does not allow you to stop other readers from viewing the offending poster's posts.
Effort Required
The effort required to activate the Ignore Button for a particular poster varies with each keyboard, but it generally does not require more than a brief pulse of force delivered by a single finger.
Antidote
If you would like to see the posts of a particular user again, simply click the Unignore button which replaced the Ignore button when you clicked it. If you would like to see one particular post written by one particular poster, simply locate and click the Show Button located at the top right of each post (where the Quote Button appears on posts of users you do not have on Ignore) of the users you have on Ignore. The Show Button also toggles in a similar fashion to the Ignore/Unignore Buttons. When you click the Show Button, it will be replaced by two buttons- Quote and Hide. Clicking Hide will return the post to its Ignore state.
