"In 2001, the first phase of a business alliance between the USPS and FedEx Express began with the installment of FedEx drop boxes at post office facilities. With those installments, FedEx agreed to pay the USPS between $126 million and $232 million in fees over the next seven years. In the second part of the agreement, the Postal Service began paying FedEx approximately $6.3 billion over seven years for shared access to the FedEx Express national air transportation network. FedEx transports Express Mail, Priority Mail, First-Class Mail and a portion of some international mail. This enabled the USPS to improve its service without increasing its costs.

The USPS made a similar agreement with UPS Inc. in 2003 that was expanded in 2006. UPS began transporting First Class and Priority mail between 98 U.S. cities. UPS often delivers USPS mail to more distant outposts, and the USPS has delivered UPS packages to rural areas."

"In an attempt to streamline its air transportation network...The USPS agreement with FedEx is exactly that solution, and the benefits to both companies have been well worth the effort. the USPS quickly understood that choosing FedEx as its service provider offered an air transportation provider with a record for service.
FedEx also offered increased insight into air transportation operations through deeper levels of data granularity.
The agreement also proved critical after Sept. 11, 2001, allowing the USPS to keep the mail moving while commercial airlines redefined security measures. In the early months of the agreement, approximately 50 percent of the priority mail that traveled via air was being transported by commercial passenger carriers. After Sept. 11, all of this mail was shifted to FedEx as the Federal Aviation Administration ruled that no mail weighing more than a specified weight could be carried on a commercial passenger flight. Without the FedEx agreement, the USPS would have faced an insurmountable logistics problem."

United will still carry international mail, the majority of its mail business. The airline has transported U.S. mail for 75 years. United Airlines - the passenger carrier that flies the most mail - will lose its domestic contract with the USPS because of poor on-time performance.
"UPS has been flying some of our mail to some of our more distant outposts, and they have been a very good partner in doing that," he said. "And they have asked us to deliver some packages in some of the more rural areas of the country."
One insider said that UPS may be clamoring to take over a partnership the USPS began with FedEx in 2001

and so this is why we should never have any courier packages delivered to your home. Will your info from the UPS or Fedex database be networked and viewable by the USPS? Will the alphabetsoup No Such Agencies have access to this then?
Your privacy is compromised by these contracts. Will these contracts make the employees of UPS and 'independent contractors' as Fedex refers to their delivery drivers (to skirt around labor unions successful formation) faux government employees? Will they be asked by the USPS as part of the contract to spy and take part of a mail cover/pen register?
If UPS & Fedex are delivering 1st Class mail to 'rural areas' such as the small Alaskan town that our Ghost member Jack Boone lives in then don't the USPS they have full access to that database? But then again in those small communities that person could also be the local TSA officer as Jack mentioned:

will the USPS have the contractor spy on the recipient for DHS like
'Anti-Terrorism Eyes of the Government' as Firefighters in major cities are being trained to take on a new role as lookouts for terrorism.
" "to identify material or behavior that may indicate terrorist activities" and were also "told to be alert for a person who is hostile, uncooperative or expressing hate or discontent with the United States. Unlike law enforcement officials, firemen can go onto private property without a warrant..."

Will the USPS and government require these couriers to also be 'Anti-Terrorism Eyes of the Government' since they are on private property for a primary purpose to deliver a package. In their contract do they have a secondary purpose for being there now?
