The Atlasphere doesn't have many females between the ages of 18-25 in FL.

Where in FL, Mike?  I'm on the Treasure Coast.  I am out of your age range, though!  But it's nice to know of more likeminded folks down here.  Check out the Florida Meetup thread on the Bulletin Board for more info on a possible gathering.

I think women are less likely to use dating sites than men.  There are usually more men registered and, among other things, I think most women can find more alternatives to getting a date than most men.

So going to the meet-up would probably be a good idea.  It could plug you more into a community of like-minded folks, and you'll run into (or at least be noticed) by the one you're after.  (Natch, you might find something different than what you're after and be glad of it, too.)

Introducing BrainCrave.com... where minds meet
« Reply #18 on: September 10, 2009, 10:41:38 PM »

Especially coming from a new member, I hope you won’t consider this message as spam.

I’ve developed a website called http://www.braincrave.com and I’d very much appreciate a discussion with members of this group on your insights.  A snippet from the About Us page (http://www.braincrave.com/index.php?page=about_us):

----------
We all admire beauty, but the mind is what ultimately must be stimulated for maximum arousal. Longevity in relationships cannot occur without a meeting of the minds. And that is what BrainCrave is: a dating venue where minds meet.

Sadly, the one characteristic all dating sites have in common is that what people write in their profiles is typically very superficial, repetitive, and cliché. Sure, answering the basic questions gives you some level of understanding about what they are like. But what about the deep, philosophical aspects of a person’s personality and character? Where are the questions that demonstrate the capabilities of the intellect? How do you discern a person’s honor by commonplace and cliché answers to basic (and sometimes boring) questions? Does true intimacy really stem from answers regarding your favorite color, the shapes of lines on your hands, or being able to go from jeans to a dress/suit on a moment’s notice? Where are the intellectual hedonists?

It’s true - many people don’t like to write about themselves; and many more aren’t very good at describing themselves in words. That’s where BrainCrave strives to be different. Though we will have the more general questions that most are used to, we intend to ask your thoughts on deeper topics... topics that spawn your own insights and those of your potential matches around the way you think, the choices you make, and the actions you take.

Principles and philosophies are gathered and developed over the course of our lives. Though all philosophies of life are welcome, we are especially dedicated to those of you who put reason as your basic philosophical tenet (e.g., Aristotle, Ayn Rand/Objectivism). Similarly, we admit our partiality to adherents of the free market and Austrian school of economics. Don’t know much about either? Come meet and chat with our other members to learn more!

For our annual Gold and Platinum members, we offer you an exclusive service that provides personalized suggestions for improving your profile to feed the minds of your potential matches. Sure, improving your profile will result in a larger volume of connections. However, and more importantly, improved profiles result in higher quality discussions as you get to know each other. And is there really anything sexier than the stimulation you get from conversations that are deep in thought?

We also offer opportunities to earn free Gold status for writing articles. When users view your article, they will have an opportunity to "sanction" it. Every time your article is sanctioned, it will earn sanction points. Earn enough sanctions and we will reward you with additional months of free Gold membership in appreciation of your effort.

----------

As I’ve searched for dating websites that support libertarian principles, I find that they are pretty sparse (and lousy).  They also appear to be run by someone who isn’t passionate about the philosophies.  As you can tell from my Digg postings (http://digg.com/users/brilovett/history), I am.  I’m thrilled that the freedom movement is continuing to grow so significantly and I’m hoping to make an additional contribution to its prosperity.  (Who knows?  I might even get some good dates!)  I believe one of the core problems is that people don’t care about philosophy anymore and about the fundamental aspects of their beliefs.  Like you’re all doing through your various activities, I intend to help change that.  After all, if you’re not part of the solution…

Would any of you be interested in providing me feedback?  I’m especially interested in hearing ideas around marketing and better reaching out to the libertarian community.  For example, it would be great to have some libertarians host chats on various philosophical topics.  To encourage feedback, I'm offering free 4-month Gold memberships (a $70 value - just enter LIBERTY when you register). All I ask in return for a free membership is for the member to click on the feedback link after using the site and let me know his/her honest opinions and ideas. I'm very interested in hearing what the libertarian community thinks of BrainCrave. I will be sending out the following ad in (hopefully) a few weeks announcing the launch and I'd love to have your feedback on that as well (it can be seen at http://www.braincrave.com/images/campaign/001/email/introducting_braincrave.htm).  Is this something you’d be interested in?  Thanx in advance for any feedback you would offer.

No, I wouldn't consider that spamming at all, it's more like a public service announcement.

Hey you all. Nice to meet you. I am near Philadelphia -

Saw this lady I would like to find on libertarianpassions: MSATNOINETTE

Signed up, but can't get messaging to work, and other features. MSATNOINETTE last logged in 3 months ago anyway... she was the only match w/i 100 miles.

So, I am conservative leaning, libertarian, christian by faith, free by birth, 58 and would like to talk to libertarian-type ladies, especially eastern US (the more south the better)

We never know what can come of a friendship, and what two can do or figure out if they aim to.

Freewoman in Florida, what's your age group? LOL Perhaps I should not ask here...
I have some family in Fla. Within 100 miles of Tampa.

I'm 50, and no longer care about such things as people asking my age, so there ya go!  I'm not near Tampa, though; I'm on the other coast.  And I have no intention of staying in Florida long-term--I feel I'm really a Montanan, in exile down here.  However, I am always on the lookout for likeminded folks, for friendship as well as for "dating" (I'm not really into the whole dating thing anyway--just looking for friends with whom I can hang out!).

A decade ago, Mrs. Sailor found my ad online the day before it expired. It appears to be a 'happily ever after' match.  She had no shooting experience and didn't know what a libertarian was, but she so much wanted a man who could operate something besides a TV remote that she thought we might fit.  She's now a Libertarian activist who owns a Glock, Mossberg and AR-15 and practices so she can qualify annually on all of them.

I'm not saying you should expect to change anybody, but there are non-libertarians, non-preppers who have the potential to move over from the dark side.  Finding one already here is great, but recognizing someone who isn't thoughtlessly parroting Newspeak may, in the long run, have the same effect.  You might even find the same side effect I did: she thinks I'm really smart ;)
